Im Cody Michaels, Over the course of the fall semester i have learned numerous amounts of things. First right off the bat i learned how to do the MLA format correctly. Before i thought i was already a expert of MLA, but i was way off. My works cited for every paper prior to this semester was incorrect. Second thing i learned would be how to insert analysis into a paper. Before this class i had never done a paper with analysis in it. I literally had no idea of the concepts of logos, pathos, and ethos. But through multiple drafts, RAD documents to help form analysis, one on one teacher time, and peer review i learned a lot about analysis. But the summary/analysis was the paper that i hated most from class, but that paper i learned the most from. My summary writing has also improved a lot, one tiny example would be i used to always put a characters first name throughout my papers. I just never really learned the tools to develop a correct summary until this class. For example before this class i never did a summary on a film, Christo's Valley Curtain summary was another project i did not like, but taught me a lot about summary writing. I never distinguished between an analysis (which often reads like "opinion") and summary. The purpose of the summary I've learned is to faithfully represent all the elements of the work. Throughout the class my favorite two projects would be the multi modal project, and the informative and surprising essay. The multi modal project was just a great time doing something i love (BMXing), this was by far the best project i have ever done in school, i mean ever!!!!!! It was a blast making the video and editing the video, The class even helped me improve my editing skills for the video which i though was pretty cool. The informative and surprising essay was my second favorite project because i got to write about hockey. Throughout the course of the paper i leaned a few things about the NHL that i did not know. Overall my college writing 2 class was great the teaching method of Dr Kyburz was by far my favorite of my college experience thus far. I would also like to thank Dr Kyburz she was an amazing teaching and the semester was a blast.
